A stroke of luck in the Pembrokeshire Lottery has turned into a generous opportunity for PATH, thanks to the charitable spirit of our Managing Director, Michael Hooper. Michael won £2,000 in last week’s draw, and in a heartfelt gesture, he has decided to donate half of his winnings back to the charity.

With Gift Aid taken into consideration, Michael’s donation of £1,000 will result in a £1,250 boost for our services.

When Michael was notified by a staff member that his name had been announced as the winner, he was initially taken by surprise. But his delight quickly turned into a decision to support PATH’s ongoing work.

“While I feel incredibly fortunate to have won, this is a perfect chance to help our clients who need support all year round, and especially at Christmas when times are even tougher,” Michael said.

PATH provides essential services to vulnerable individuals and families in Pembrokeshire, and Michael’s donation will go towards helping buy food, warm clothing, and other necessities.

“We are always grateful for any donations – big or small – and this contribution will make a real difference in people’s lives,” he added.

Michael also expressed hope that his donation would help raise awareness of the increasing issue of homelessness in the area, which continues to require urgent attention.

“Homelessness is a growing concern in Pembrokeshire, and by donating £1,000 back into PATH, I hope to not only help our clients but also highlight the vital need for funding and donations that keep our services running.”

Allison Butler from the Pembrokeshire Lottery was delighted to hear about Michael’s generous plans for the money when she presented him with the cheque at the PATH office in Haverfordwest. Cathy Lawrence, Senior Coordinator of the Advice and Bonds service, was also present to accept the cheque on behalf of PATH.

As we look ahead to securing the next round of funding to sustain our crucial services, Michael is also exploring the possibility of discussing a loan from the Pembrokeshire Lottery to further support PATH’s work.
