Ocean Lab Sea Trust: Celebrating Our Learners’ Achievements through End-of-Term Trips
By Jasmyn Collings
The Numeracy Project believes that learning extends beyond the classroom walls. Each term, our learners embark on an end-of-term trip, designed to not only reinforce the skills they have gained but also to encourage teamwork, problem-solving, and real-world application of their knowledge. These trips are a testament to the hard work and dedication of our learners, who have spent the term honing their numeracy skills and are now ready to put them to practical use.
This term, our learners planned and executed two exciting trips to the Ocean Lab Sea Trust in Goodwick. This trip offered a unique opportunity for the learners to dive into the world of marine biology and explore the local sea creatures and ecosystems. The learners were fully engaged, asking insightful questions, and showing a deep interest in understanding the intricacies of the marine environment. It was a day filled with discovery, as they connected their numeracy skills with real-world scenarios, such as calculating distances, estimating sizes, and understanding the importance of marine conservation.

These end-of-term trips are an integral part of the Numeracy Project, offering our learners a chance to apply their skills in new and exciting ways. By planning and executing these trips, our learners gain valuable life skills, such as decision-making, teamwork, and leadership. The hands-on experiences they encounter help to solidify their understanding of numeracy concepts, making learning both enjoyable and meaningful.
As we look forward to the next term, we are excited to see how our learners will continue to grow and apply their skills in innovative ways. The end-of-term trips are not just a celebration of what has been learned but a stepping stone towards a future of continued success and exploration.
